The KLF var en britisk acid house- og stadium house-duo, bestående af skotten Bill Drummond og englænderen Jimmy Cauty. Duoen opstod i Liverpool og London i slutningen af 1980'erne og udgav først samplebaseret, hiphop-inspireret musik under navnet The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu (forkortet The JAMs) - et navn lånt fra romanserien Illuminatus!. Som The Timelords fik de i 1988 en britisk nr. 1-hit med Doctorin' the Tardis.
Under navnet The KLF blev Drummond og Cauty pionerer for den såkaldte stadium house - ravemusik med pop- og rockproduktion og samplet stadionjubel. Fra deres eget pladeselskab KLF Communications udsendte de en stribe internationale hits og blev i 1991 verdens mest sælgende singleact. Blandt klassikerne er What Time Is Love? (1990), 3 A.M. Eternal, Last Train to Trancentral (begge nr. 2 i Storbritannien i 1991) og America: What Time Is Love? (nr. 4 i 1992).
Deres samarbejde med countrysangerinden Tammy Wynette på Justified and Ancient (1991) blev nr. 1 i 18 lande. Den 5. maj 1992 trak duoen sig tilbage fra musikindustrien, slettede hele deres bagkatalog og brændte siden berygtet nok en million pund for at understrege alvoren.
